Distruction Boyz New Albums 2020 : South Africa can boast of good Gqom producers like Zipho Mthembu and Thobani Mgobozi, the two are known by their stage name Distruction Boyz and late last year 2019, they released a studio album called From The Streets To The World, what then should we expect by 2020?
Apparently, the project is not a usual one as they went above board to incorporate a new sound which they called Electronic Gqom Music (EGM) according to the duo, it means a combination of electronic and gqom music.
From an interview which was hosted, Mthembu said that gqom lovers may feel the old sound as if it was from years back but giving the new beat trial, big difference would be noticed.
He also claimed that gqom music is already at that point where it has been nationally recognized, a stage where is already receiving a massive airplay, and other South African singers and beyond are now interested in the genre.
The other pair Mgobozi confessed that it actually took them some time in other to produce the new sound.
The duo explained why we did not hear much from then in 2019. They claimed to be quiet because the market was filled with the same beat and sound, so they wanted to make a difference.
For years now, Distruction Boyz have been known as the top gqom producers and artistes, and it is understandable that with the competition they face with the new genre called Amapiano, it will be necessary to lift the face of Gqom to a better standard, hence the emergence of the new Gqom called EGM, Electronic Gqom.
In their new album, they featured other known Gqom artistes and producers, and they revealed that the new trend is easy and so other artistes can blend in to it.
On their 2019 album, they claimed that most of the songs on it are EGM but for the fact that they already are known with the normal Gqom beats, they still have the usual gqom which their fans know them for on the new album.
Please note that “From The Streets To The World” album is now on all digital platforms and features other Gqom artistes such as DJ Tira, Nokwazi, Mampintsha, Indlovukazi, Kyle Deutsch, Zhao, and even more.

At this point, it is safe to say that from 2020, gqom albums and gqom sounds may have a new feel. A better sound and mixture of beats which should be totally different from what it used to be, a sound which does’nt have the same feeling but still filled with the same hard drum beats.
We can only but hope for what 2020 gqom albums will sound like.
