Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif is the biological name of Sho Madjozi, she is a South African nice rapper and also a poet who has many songs to her credit. She is popular for singing in Tsonga, her native tongue, the female singer gained recognition when she dropped her hit track “Huku”.
Sho may be considered a Gqom singer or artiste since she works more with Gqom producers and adds more of gqom beat on her songs, she is known to have featured on popular songs like Okmalumkoolkat’s “Ngiyashisa Bhe”, “Gq”, and also on DJ Maphorisa’s “Probleme”.
Background & Family:
Sho was born on May 9th, 1992, in a village named Shelly in Elim, Limpopo, she is the daughter of Marc Wegerif and Rosemary Phaweni, Marc ran a non-governmental organisation that specializes on assisting people with their claims on land. Sho’s mother is from Africa while her father is European.
Her parents got divorced when she was still a kid, and she was mainly raised by her mother, she has half-sisters both from her mum’s side and her dad’s side.
Her dad Marc, was a frequent traveler who regularly visits some particular regions of Africa, Sho had the privilege to travel around with her dad, among the places she traveled to are Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and also Senegal.
She graduated from high school in Tanzania and she had a degree in African Studies and creative writing from Mount Holyoke College in United States, which was as a result of scholarship.
She later went back to University of Johannesburg South Africa where she took up a profession in writing.
Sho dropped her debut studio album named Limpopo Champions League months back, in December 2018; the project featured the likes of Kwesta, Makwa, pH, and Nigeria’s Ycee.
Sho Madjozi Songs:
Sho Madjozi started her music carer in collaboration with South Africa House singer, Okmalumkoolkat, and was featured on the song Ngiyashisa Bhe and also released Gqi and other songs.
In 2017, she assisted Rouge & Moozlie on the song “Ay Baby”.
On December 2nd, 2018, she debuted “Wakanda Forever” with Nigerian rapper YCEE during the Global Citizen Fest which took place in Johannesburg.
